Keyboards

The PC keyboard is a unified device with a standard connector and a serial communication interface with the motherboard.

Key sensors are mechanical contacts (open or sealed in glass flasks magnetically controlled - reed switches) or buttons based on conductive rubber, or capacitive sensors or Hall sensors.

Keyboard can be classified according to various criteria. For example, by the type of connection, modern keyboards can be wired (under a USB or PS / 2 socket) or wireless (connected via Bluetooth (perhaps another radio channel) or infrared). According to the internal arrangement, they are mechanical (use full-fledged mechanical keys on the springs and a printed circuit board to locate the contact tracks), semi-mechanical (the keys themselves are without mechanics, but the contacts are soldered on the circuit board) and membrane (contact tracks are separated on a special flexible membrane).

However, all these differences are not noticeable at first glance. Much more often, users pay attention to external differences. And here in recent years there has appeared quite a large variety of different models of keyboards. So much so that you can even divide them into specific types!

A standard computer keyboard has 101-104 keys. But modern manufacturers of keyboards do not always adhere to this standard, endowing their products with additional buttons that extend the functionality of computer control. These can be the keys to quickly open an email or the Internet, control an audio / video player, turn off a computer, and more.
